![]() About ReflexologyReflexology is a non-invasive method of stimulating reflexes in the hands, feet and ears, through the medium of touch, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body.Gentle pressure is applied by hand to the soles and upper areas of the feet in a specific pattern that reflects the positions of the organs in the body. Imbalances within the body can be detected by sensitivities in the feet. All areas of the feet are included so the experience is holistic – the body is treated as a whole not as a selection of symptoms. What does a treatment entail? An initial consultation will take place, to fill in a medical questionnaire about present and past health, and your lifestyle. This will cover aspects of physical, mental and emotional health and will take approximately 15 minutes. You will then be asked to remove your socks and shoes and a cooling wipe will be used over the feet while an examination of the feet takes place. Talcum powder will be applied to aid the movement of the therapist’s hands. This is then followed by approximately an hour-long treatment. It should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. However a fleeting feeling of tenderness may be felt which will point to imbalances in those particular reflexes, the release of these imbalances loosens tensions and may aid the free flow of energy in the body restoring its natural balance. Who can benefit? Many illnesses both acute and chronic may be aided by Reflexology. Stress sufferers in particular can benefit with a release of tension. Reflexology can also be used as a preventative form of therapy, resulting in a relaxed, well-balanced, harmonised body, which may stimulate good health. Treatments are suitable for men, women and children. Also pregnant women may benefit from treatments. |
